For Social media teams

The clip for today's post, found by asking

Five phones at the launch event, a founder interview, a folder of behind the scenes and last spring's product shoot. Ask for a ten-second hook about the new feature and get three lines, each with its clip and in and out points.

14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

Problems

What slows Social media teams down

Problem[01]

The hook is in minute fourteen

The line that would stop the scroll is somewhere in a 20-minute interview. Finding it means scrubbing the whole thing again, and the post goes out at noon.

Problem[02]

Everyone films, nobody logs

The community manager, the intern and two agency shooters all film for the account. Clips land in one shared folder as IMG_4821.MOV, and nobody has time to say what's in them.

Problem[03]

The archive goes unused

Last year's events and product shoots hold dozens of usable clips. Nobody can find them, so the feed recycles the same three or the team books another shoot.

What Prewatch gives you

Your footage, already watched

Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

What you getWhere it runsWhat it does for you
Every word searchableOn your MacEach clip transcribed on the Mac with a time on every word, so a line from an interview, a vox pop or a vlog is one search away.
Captions to start fromOn your MacEach transcript also saved as SubRip and WebVTT, ready to import as captions for sound-off viewing and correct before posting.
Hooks, reactions, revealsClaude or OpenAIReactions, reveals and the best seconds of each clip, with in and out points and a usability score. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key.
New clips logged as they landOn your MacPoint Prewatch at the team's shared folder or NAS and it indexes new clips as they arrive, once each file has finished copying.
Music and wind taggedOn your MacClips with a song, wind or traffic under them tagged on the Mac, so a soundbite isn't pulled from a clip with someone else's music playing.
Unusable clips flaggedOn your MacSoft, dark, overexposed and frozen clips flagged on the Mac, before anyone on the team picks one for a post.
Ask it

One question instead of a day of scrubbing

You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Questions

Questions from Social media teams

Can it make vertical versions?

No. Prewatch finds and logs the clips; reframing to 9:16, styling captions and exporting for each platform happen in your editor. Your assistant can lay the picked clips on a timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later.

Does everyone on the team need Prewatch?

No. One Mac watches the shared folder and writes the index. Other Macs with Prewatch can read it without changing anything, and the files are plain Markdown, JSON and TSV that anyone can open.

Does footage of an unannounced product leave the Mac?

Indexing, transcripts, flags and search run on the Mac, with nothing uploaded. Moments and descriptions stay off until you add your own Claude or OpenAI API key; then still keyframes, one contact sheet and transcript text are sent, never video or audio, at a cost shown up front.

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.

How does the free trial work?

Prewatch is an App Store subscription with a 14-day free trial: $59 a year or $7.99 a month after it. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged.
