For Video podcast producers

Find the minute worth clipping in every episode

Ninety minutes, three cameras, two hosts and a guest. Prewatch transcribes it on your Mac, so you can ask for the story about the first job and get the second it starts.

14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

Problems

What slows Video podcast producers down

Problem[01]

Listening back, twice

Ninety minutes of conversation, and the best sixty seconds could be anywhere. Finding it means listening back to the whole episode, often twice, with the release already scheduled.

Problem[02]

A back catalog nobody can search

Two hundred episodes on a drive. A sponsor wants every mention from the past year, a guest wants their segment, and nobody remembers which episode it was in.

Problem[03]

Shorts on top of the episode

The episode goes out Tuesday; the clips, chapters and show notes follow all week. Picking moments for social is a second edit squeezed into the same few days.

What Prewatch gives you

Your footage, already watched

Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

What you getWhere it runsWhat it does for you
Full episode transcriptsOn your MacWhisper transcribes each recording on the Mac's GPU, every line timed, and writes one file with every line of the folder. Nothing is uploaded.
Hosts and guests told apartOn your MacUp to four voices within each file, and the same voice recognized across the episodes in a folder. Name the hosts once and every episode knows them.
Laughs and raised voicesOn your MacLoudness for every file and the moments that jump above the room, where the laugh, the shout or the argument is likely to be.
Captions to start fromOn your MacEach transcript also written as WebVTT and SubRip, ready to import and correct. Speaker labels stay out of the caption text.
Search every episodeOn your MacOne search across every indexed folder for a name, a product or a phrase, returning the file and the second it was said.
Clips cut in ResolveYour AI appClaude or ChatGPT reads the transcripts through Prewatch, proposes clips with in and out points and lays them out in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later.
Ask it

One question instead of a day of scrubbing

You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Questions

Questions from Video podcast producers

Does it sync my camera angles?

No. Prewatch doesn't sync cameras or audio or build multicam clips. Each angle is indexed and transcribed on its own; do the sync in Resolve and use Prewatch to find where to cut.

How many speakers can it tell apart?

Up to four within one file. Across the episodes in a folder, the same voice is recognized, so once you name the host, every episode shows the name. Matching is strict: if a guest appears twice, merge them. Voiceprints stay on your Mac. A remote episode recorded one file per person simply gets one voice per file.

Do I need an API key?

No. Transcripts, speakers, loudness, captions and search run on your Mac. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key, Prewatch can also write a description of each file; that sends still frames and transcript text, never video or audio, at a cost shown up front.

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.

How does the free trial work?

Prewatch is an App Store subscription with a 14-day free trial: $59 a year or $7.99 a month after it. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged.
