“Let me start that again”
You restart a sentence until it comes out right, ten times in a bad lesson. Finding the last complete attempt means listening through every false start before it.
A batch recording day: lesson after lesson to camera, a restart after every stumble, screen recordings in between. Prewatch transcribes it on your Mac, so you can ask for the last clean take of each section in module 3.
14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.
You restart a sentence until it comes out right, ten times in a bad lesson. Finding the last complete attempt means listening through every false start before it.
A batch day leaves dozens of recordings named by date and number. Matching them to the modules and lessons in your outline happens from memory, or in a spreadsheet nobody keeps up.
Students expect captions on every lesson. After a week spent finding takes and cutting them, each lesson still needs a subtitle file someone has to make and check.
Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
| What you get | Where it runs | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Every take transcribed | On your Mac | Your words with the time of each one, so the assistant can line up your attempts at the same sentence and pick the complete one. |
| Restarts easy to spot | On your Mac | Quiet stretches of two seconds or more marked in each recording, the natural seams between one attempt and the next. |
| Subtitle files | On your Mac | Each recording's transcript also written as WebVTT and SubRip, the standard caption formats, a head start on the finished lesson's captions. |
| English subtitles too | On your Mac | Teach in Spanish, German or Japanese and each recording also gets an English translation, as text and as subtitle files. |
| Recordings by topic | Claude or OpenAI | A short description of each recording, so “the one where I explain pricing tiers” finds the right file. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key. |
| Lessons built in Resolve | Your AI app | Your assistant lays the chosen takes on a timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, in the order of your outline. |
You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
The recordings where you explain it, with the transcript lines and the time each one starts.
Your AI appIn and out points for each kept take, with the false starts left out, and the transcript of what stays.
Your AI appA timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio with the best take of each section, in outline order.
Your AI appYes, if they are MOV or MP4 files macOS can decode, as the Mac's own screen recordings are. Your narration in them is transcribed like any other clip.
Prewatch doesn't edit audio. It gives the assistant the time of every word and the quiet stretches, so it can set in and out points around false starts; the cut itself is made in Resolve.
Yes. Whisper detects the language of each recording and transcribes it in that language, or you can set one language for the whole folder. Recordings not in English also get an English translation.
Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.
Prewatch is an App Store subscription with a 14-day free trial: $59 a year or $7.99 a month after it. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged.
Point Prewatch at a folder you have already shot, then ask about it in Claude or ChatGPT.
