For Travel and adventure filmmakers

Any shot from the trip, without the rewatch

A mirrorless body, a GoPro, a drone and your phone. Two weeks of cards, sorted into days and scenes on your Mac. Ask for the market on day 3 or the take where you got the line right.

14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

Problems

What slows Travel and adventure filmmakers down

Problem[01]

Four cameras, one folder

The mirrorless writes DSCF, the GoPro GX, the drone DJI and the phone IMG. Copied into one folder, nothing says which clips belong to the morning at the market.

Problem[02]

Six takes of the same line

You said the piece to camera six times by the harbor. One was steady, in focus and not buried in wind. Finding it means watching all six again.

Problem[03]

Home with 400 GB and a deadline

The sponsor wants a cut, or the channel needs its episode. Before anything gets edited, someone has to watch two weeks of footage from four cameras.

What Prewatch gives you

Your footage, already watched

Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

What you getWhere it runsWhat it does for you
Days and scenes, across camerasOn your MacEvery camera's clips grouped by their own capture time, with a new scene when you moved more than a kilometer, if the file recorded where.
Pieces to camera, transcribedOn your MacEvery take you talk in is transcribed on the Mac's GPU with its timecode, so you can search the words and line the takes up.
Locals, translatedOn your MacThe language of each clip detected and transcribed, with an English translation beside it: rough on the Mac, better with your API key.
Wind, shake and soft focusOn your MacEach shot marked locked off, steady, handheld or shaky, wind on the mic heard and timed, and soft or dark footage flagged.
Moments worth cuttingClaude or OpenAIWhat happens in each clip, from the reveal to the reaction, with in and out points and a 1–5 usability score. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key.

Ask it

One question instead of a day of scrubbing

You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Questions

Questions from Travel and adventure filmmakers

Does it handle footage from several cameras and my phone?

Yes. Prewatch reads the files macOS can decode, from mirrorless cameras, GoPro, DJI and iPhone, and places every clip in one run of days and scenes by its own capture time. Phones and Fujifilm cameras record their time zone; for other cameras the day comes from the file's UTC time, so a clip shot near midnight can land on the next day.

Does it use my locations, and do they leave the Mac?

It reads the location a file recorded, when there is one, and uses it to start a new scene when you moved. Locations stay as coordinates on your Mac: nothing is looked up over the network, and they are never sent to a description model.

Does it work on the road, without a connection?

Once its models have downloaded on first use, indexing, transcription, the rough English translation and every flag run on the Mac with no connection. Point it at a card, an external SSD or last year's archive drive. Descriptions and moments need a connection and your own API key.

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.

How does the free trial work?

Prewatch is an App Store subscription with a 14-day free trial: $59 a year or $7.99 a month after it. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged.
