For Action sports filmmakers

The make, found without watching twenty bails

Helmet cam, chest mount and a friend filming from the bottom of the stairs: a day of runs and attempts, indexed on your Mac. Ask for the try everyone yelled about and get the clip and the seconds.

14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

Problems

What slows Action sports filmmakers down

Problem[01]

Which try was the make

You tried it fifteen times. The make is GX010043 or GX010071, and in a thumbnail every attempt is the same blur of sky and concrete.

Problem[02]

Eight hours of POV

The helmet cam ran from the first chair to the last lap, no notes. The two good runs sit somewhere between lift rides and pushing back up the hill.

Problem[03]

The season edit slips again

Every weekend adds a card from the park, the trail or the break. By the end of the season there's too much to watch, and the edit moves to next year.

What Prewatch gives you

Your footage, already watched

Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

What you getWhere it runsWhat it does for you
Tries and reactionsClaude or OpenAIAction, reactions and the last attempt, read from keyframes and from what's said (“last one”, the yelling after), with in and out points. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key.
Shake that's normal for POVOn your MacEvery shot classed steady, handheld or shaky from the picture. Moments aren't scored down for shake when most of that camera's footage is shaky.
GoPro settings from the fileOn your MacModel, Protune, color profile, field of view, stabilization, white balance and ISO limits, read from HERO5 and later files. Protune Flat clips are marked flat.
Shouts and crashes, heardOn your MacMoments where the sound jumps above the clip's own level are marked and timed, and the Mac app tells a voice apart from wind on the mic.
Steadiest seconds per clipOn your MacThe five steadiest stretches of every clip, ranked from the picture, so a rough run still gives you its clean seconds.
Sessions by day and spotOn your MacClips grouped into days and scenes by capture time and, when the camera recorded it, location, so each session reads as one.
Ask it

One question instead of a day of scrubbing

You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Questions

Questions from Action sports filmmakers

Will it mark all my POV footage as shaky?

A shot is classed shaky when it is. But moments aren't scored down for shake when most of that camera's footage in the folder is shaky, as with a helmet or chest cam, so the best action still rises to the top.

Does it read GoPro metadata?

Yes, from the HERO5 on: model, firmware, Protune, color profile, field of view, stabilization, white balance, sharpness and ISO limits come from the file itself. Older GoPros give their firmware only. The gyro and GPS telemetry track isn't read, so shake is measured from the picture.

Can it tell a make from a bail?

Not reliably on its own. The description model reads still keyframes and the transcript, so it finds the attempts and the reactions after them, and what people say (“he landed it”, “so close”) helps most. Watch the last seconds of each try yourself before you cut.

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.

How does the free trial work?

Prewatch is an App Store subscription with a 14-day free trial: $59 a year or $7.99 a month after it. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged.
