Years of footage, no log
Field staff filmed the clinic opening, the graduation, the first harvest. It's spread over phones, shared drives and a hard drive from 2023, and nobody wrote down what's where.
Program visits on staff phones, a volunteer's camera cards, interviews in Spanish and Swahili. Index it all on one Mac, then ask for the parent who talks about the new school, in English, with the seconds to cut.
14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

The strongest testimonies are told in the language people speak at home. Paying for transcription and translation of hours of interviews comes out of the program budget.
The comms team is you. The year-end appeal, the grant report, the gala film and the board update all need footage, and they all land in the same month.
Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
| What you get | Where it runs | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Transcripts in the language spoken | On your Mac | Whisper detects each clip's language and transcribes it on the Mac, with a time on every line and no cost per minute. |
| Testimonies in English | Claude or OpenAI | An English translation line by line, each line keeping its time, with your own Claude or OpenAI API key. Without one, Whisper translates on the Mac, more roughly. |
| Staff phone video sorted | On your Mac | iPhone and other phone clips read with the capture time and camera facts in the file, then grouped into days and scenes alongside the volunteer's camera footage. |
| Shaky and dark clips flagged | On your Mac | Handheld shake, underexposure, soft focus and frozen frames marked per shot, so you skip the unusable takes and find the steady ones. |
| Care for the people you film | On your Mac | No face recognition, no names inferred, nothing uploaded; the voiceprints that recognize a voice across clips stay on your Mac and can be turned off. Locations stay on your Mac and can be switched off in Settings. |
| Ask for the story | Your AI app | Ask Claude or ChatGPT on your Mac for the moment you need and get the clip, the translated line and the seconds to cut. |
You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
The clips from every program, with the English lines, the original words and the time each passage starts.
Your AI appThe days and scenes of that trip, what each scene shows, and which clips have speech worth transcribing.
Your AI appA timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio with the strongest translated lines and steady field footage between them.
Your AI appNothing for indexing, transcription, speakers, scenes and search: they run on your Mac. Descriptions, moments and the better translations are optional and billed by Anthropic or OpenAI on your own key, about a fraction of a cent per typical clip, priced up front in Settings.
No video or audio leaves your Mac, and Prewatch never recognizes or names anyone. Locations and speaker information are never sent to a description model. When you chat, what Prewatch answers becomes part of your Claude or ChatGPT conversation, so ask only what your consent terms allow.
Yes, if they have Prewatch on a Mac and can reach the footage folder on a NAS or a synced folder. One Mac indexes it; the others read its Prewatch folder without indexing again.
Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.
Point Prewatch at a folder you have already shot, then ask about it in Claude or ChatGPT.
