Five hours for one bite
The bite came late in the afternoon, after hours of casting from the same spot. Finding it means scrubbing through water, sky and the floor of the boat on the chest cam.
A chest cam, a boat mount, a GoPro under the surface and a drone, all day on the water. Ask for the moment the fish was hooked and get the in point, with the netting and the release after it.
14 days free, then $59 a year or $7.99 a month. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan; timelines need DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+. Clip descriptions are optional and use your own API key, billed by Anthropic or OpenAI.

The best markers are what you shouted. Without a transcript, “it's following”, “fish on” and “he's off” are just noise somewhere in a 40-minute file named GX010482.
Three days on the water from four cameras. The episode needs every catch in order, from cast to release, and nobody has time to watch it all again.
Prewatch indexes every clip on your Mac, so Claude or ChatGPT knows what is in your footage and can build the cut with you in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
| What you get | Where it runs | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Catches, cast to release | Claude or OpenAI | Casts, hook-ups, the netting, the fish held up and the release, each with in and out points and a 1–5 usability score. With your own Claude or OpenAI API key. |
| Heard on the boat | Claude or OpenAI | “Fish on”, “it's following the lure” and “last cast” read from the transcript as moments, timed to the line that says them, even when the fish is out of frame. |
| Talk transcribed | On your Mac | What's said in each clip, transcribed on the Mac's GPU in the language spoken, with an English translation: rough offline, better with your API key. |
| Water, wind and motors | On your Mac | Splashing water, wind on the mic and the outboard heard and timed in each clip, tagged on the Mac with Apple's sound classifier. |
| Boat footage, judged fairly | On your Mac | Every shot classed steady, handheld or shaky. When most of a camera's footage is shaky, as on a chest mount or underwater, its moments aren't marked down for it. |
| The episode built in Resolve | Your AI app | Claude or ChatGPT lays the chosen catches on a timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, through Resolve's own MCP server. |
You ask in Claude or ChatGPT. Prewatch answers with the clips, the seconds and the timecode, and your assistant builds the timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
The netting moments from that day, from every camera, each with in and out points and the hook-up before it when one was found.
Your AI appThe moments the line snapped or a fish got off, from the frames or from what was said, with the clip and the time.
Your AI appA timeline in DaVinci Resolve Studio with each catch from cast to release, in the order of the trip.
Your AI appWith descriptions on, the model reads the keyframes and the transcript and reports moments such as a cast, a hook-up, a netting, a release or a snapped line, marked uncertain when it isn't sure. It is a model's reading of stills and speech: good for finding the moment, not proof of it.
Yes. Protune, field of view, stabilization and the ISO limits are read from GoPro files (HERO5 and later), and DJI drones' .LRF proxies are used when they are on the card. Shaky chest-cam and underwater shots are still scored on sharpness and exposure, so a good catch rises to the top.
A clip in which nothing changes simply has no moments, and takes where the picture barely changes are flagged on the Mac. Describing a long take costs about one cent on the default model, and Settings shows the cost per clip before you turn it on.
Building timelines by chat needs DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, whose built-in MCP server lets your assistant work in Resolve. With the free version you can still index your footage, search it and ask Claude or ChatGPT about it, then place the clips yourself. A file handoff that the free version can import is planned.
